FCCA plays Santa to Caribbean children

FCCAMIAMI–The Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA), its member lines and partner destinations have begun their 18th annual holiday gift project, which aims to bring Christmas cheer to more than 6,000 of the region’s youngsters. The programme will see underprivileged children in 33 destinations throughout the Caribbean and Latin America receiving gifts delivered by crew members from the FCCA member cruise lines.

Toys that were selected by the destinations per age groups and genders have once again been contributed by the FCCA Foundation. Member lines will serve as Santa while they deliver the presents to partnering destinations, where festivities are planned to coincide with the distributions.

Destinations participating in the holiday cheer event include Antigua; Aruba; Bonaire; Belize; Cabo San Lucas, Mexico; Cartagena, Colombia; Colon, Panama; Costa Maya, Mexico; Cozumel, Mexico; Curacao; Dominica; Eluthera, Bahamas; Ensenada, Mexico; Falmouth, Jamaica; Freeport, Bahamas; Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands; Grand Turk, Turks and Caicos; Grenada; Montego Bay, Jamaica; Nassau, Bahamas; Ocho Rios, Jamaica; Port Everglades, Florida; Progreso, Mexico; Roatan, Honduras; Samana, Dominican Republic; Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic; San Juan, Puerto Rico; St Kitts; St Lucia; St Maarten; St Thomas, USVI; Tortola, BVI.

Dominica has already expressed its gratitude for the project.

Sanja Dubajic, youth director, Carnival Liberty, said: “We had a great time with the kids on the charity event-one new experience for all that shows even a smile or hug can make a difference in somebody’s life. I am so glad that we were part of it. And definitely we have lived the value today showing the care and respect to each other.”

The FCCA member lines comprise Carnival Cruise Lines, Celebrity Cruises, Disney Cruise Line, Holland America Line, MSC Cruises (USA), Inc., Norwegian Cruise Line, Princess Cruises, Royal Caribbean International.
